Rhea of Hope Foundation Mentor Requirements
All Foundation Mentors must meet the following qualifications:
1. All Mentors must sign a one (1) year contract to provide mentoring support, at a minimum of one (1) contact a month (personal contact is preferred if possible) to a child, teen, or young adult of their choosing or a child, teen, young adult who will be referred by the foundation.
2. All Mentors must agree to and be willing to undergo a CRIMINAL BACKGROUND CHECK before being registered and matched with a Mentee for RHEA OF HOPE FOUNDATION.
3. All Mentors must agree to focus upon activities that are guaranteed to foster positive role modeling behavior, self esteem development, and enhancement, and provide exposure to opportunities or activities that will “broaden the physical and psychological territory” of each mentee.
4. All Mentors must agree to complete and submit, after each session, one (1) copy of the Summary Report Form to the foundation staff. This information will be retained for the following reasons:
a) To establish a record of progress for the mentoring relationship.
b) To establish a data pool of mentor/mentee matches.
c) To provide the system for tracking contact hours with mentees for foundation achievement reports, grantees, and members.
d) And also to predict and meet the needs of both the Mentor and Mentee as they work to establish a lasting, trust relationship.
5. All Mentors must agree to remain in contact with designated foundation staff to communicate any and all issues of concern that relate to the overall well-being, positive development and safety of the relationship and all parties involved.
6. All Mentors are asked to attend one (1) Mentor Training Session that will be presented and facilitated by RHEA OF HOPE FOUNDATION staff and/or consultants twice annually. This training is designed to ensure development and enhancement of skills necessary to establish and maintain strong, successful mentoring relationships based upon the program principals upon which this foundation is founded.
7. All Mentors are asked to annually make a contribution to the foundation. You may determine an annual pledge amount and your payment plan or contribute an amount which meets with your ability to give. Any and all amounts are accepted with sincere gratitude.
